The morning started with an energetic game of capture the flag, and the alternative activity was coloring sheets. For social skills, we learned about social rules! In the world, people follow social rules, and sometimes it can feel like you're trying to solve a riddle when trying to figure out what the rule is. These rules can determine how we act or behave depending on the situation we are in. A lot of the time these rules can be unspoken expectations, and because of this it can be hard to know what they are if you don’t already do them. These rules change over time, because our communities change, or because we are older and the rules for us change. There was even more pies today; even the media staff was treated with this unpleasant surprise.
Today was our Telus Spark field trip! There was so much to see and do. The campers did not fear the heat and spent as much time at the outdoor playground as they could. Some of the kiddos watched the film Backyard Wilderness, which displays a stunning array of unique wildlife images and behavior - all captured by cameras mounted inside dens and nests, and moving along the forest floor and pond bottom, to reveal its inhabitants in rare and breathtaking intimacy What a thrill! As a staff we saw many friendships grow closer and improvement in social skills.
